📍 About Kedarnath Temple
Kedarnath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, the temple stands at an altitude of 3,583 meters.
It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and an important part of the Char Dham Yatra.
Surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan peaks, Kedarnath is not just a temple — it is a spiritual experience that connects devotees with peace and divine energy.
🙏 Spiritual Significance of Kedarnath
According to Hindu mythology, the temple was originally built by the Pandavas after the Mahabharata war to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva.
The temple opens every year from April/May to October/November. During winter, the idol is moved to Omkareshwar Temple Ukhimath in Ukhimath, where worship continues for six months.

Kedarnath can be reached by road up to Gaurikund. From Gaurikund, a 16 km trek leads to the temple.

If you are traveling from Delhi by bus, follow this route:
Step 1: Delhi to Haridwar / Rishikesh
Take a bus from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate to:
- Haridwar
- Rishikesh
Both government (UTC) and private buses are available daily.
Distance: Approx. 220–240 km
Travel Time: 5–7 hours
Step 2: Haridwar/Rishikesh to Sonprayag
From Haridwar or Rishikesh, take a bus or shared taxi to:
- Sonprayag
Route:
Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag
Distance: Approx. 210–220 km
